Outdoor Pizza Ovens

There is nothing tastier than a fresh, artisanal pizza, but in order to fully enjoy it, it has to be made just right.

The dough needs to be cooked to perfection; the perfect balance between soft and crisp.

The cheese needs to be properly melted; not undercooked so that it isn’t gooey, and not overly cooked so that it completely overtakes the entire pizza.

The sauce needs to be heated properly and so do all of the toppings. So, how do you cook a pizza to perfection? With an outdoor pizza oven!

The Benefits of an Outdoor Pizza Oven

There are so many fantastic benefits that an outdoor pizza oven offers. Imagine being able to cook your own pizza within the comforts of your own home (or yard) and then being able to dine on it al fresco?

Imagine how delighted your friends and family will be when you serve them up a freshly made pizza that is made in your own outdoor pizza oven?

Picture how incredible it will be to involve your loved ones in the whole pizza making experience; after all, pizza really is a fine art that should be fully enjoyed every step of the way – from the assembly to the cooking, and finally, to the consumption.

Another notable benefit of an outdoor pizza oven: You won’t have to worry about waiting on the delivery guy or running out to the pizza parlor every time you have a hankering for a delicious slice of cheesy, saucy goodness.

Plus, you will be able to make your own creations; you won’t be limited by what the ingredients that the pizza place has to offer.

Types of Outdoor Pizza Ovens

There are two basic types of outdoor pizza ovens: The wood oven and the masonry oven.
The Wood Oven. Wood ovens aren’t made out of wood, but rather wood is used within them as the fuel to cook the pizza. There are two different types of wood-fired pizza ovens:

  • Black ovens which are heated by burning wood inside a chamber and the pizza is cooked in that chamber while the fire is still burning.
  • White ovens which are heated from a fire that is placed in a combustion chamber that is separate from the food. They are a bit more complicated to construct, but you don’t have to contend with any ash in your food, as the fire is in another chamber.
  • The Masonry Oven. Also known as a brick or a stone oven, these pizza ovens are made either type of masonry material. The interior of the baking chamber is heated by fire that is made with either gas or electricity. The benefit of a masonry oven is that it retains heat very well.

Once you decide on the type of outdoor pizza oven you would like, you can either build one yourself or have a professional create one for you. Either way, when you have your outdoor pizza oven installed, there is no doubt that you will fully enjoy exploring all of the different types of pizzas that you can make.
